Depeche Mode is larger than life

Wow, what a show. Depeche mode live show in Shoreline today is, in fact, the 2nd live show that I watched in bay area (the first one was last December is San Francisco's Nobhill of Analis moresett - I might not spell it right, which was really a cozy, small show). But Depeche Mode at Shoreline is HUGE. The traffice was jammed all the way to highway 92. I was late a hour and half only to find there were actually two other bands playing before Depeche which was a good surprise for me. I wore my cowboy hat in and around the stadium and caught LOTS of attention. I wasn't sure how I look. But a few envy from the pretty girls led me believe I look good in that hat. Maybe I will think to make it my signature hat.

Depeche mode is larger than life.

Best of youth

I am puzzeled. Intuitive test says I am much more scientific than emotional, which is quite opposite from what I thought about myself. People were born for different purposes. Like Matteo of "best of youth", an archilles, a hero of the grief, as opposed to hero of glory, he eventually commited suicide. God sends archilles to the world to leave a mark, his purpose is to leave the mark. And he did it, god then took him back without a mercy.

Do we have purpose? Matteo was a mere police man, handsome, strong, sad. He chose to be a policeman to catch the criminal, to change the old, hopeless Italy, and he often found himself on the other fence of democracy and brotherhood, his destiny was drawn the moment he stepped on that train back to Rome, while his brother Nicola chose North cape to find his purpose when a Norwaygian girl calmed his anger and ended his wander. That is when he met his love and for the love he chased, he became a doctor to save people.

Who do you see you are, when you grow up?

Amanda Congdon

The current business 2.0 runs an article about www.rocketboom.com, a vlog that is hosted by Amanda Congdon. Come on, it's b2.0 the bible magzine for startup folks like me. So I took it very serious. I was not sure about the looks of Andrew Baron. It's a bit sketchy. Amanda on b2.0 looks just like Sarah of Sarah&no name of popular morning show at San Francisco, only younger, and sexier, b2.0 did a good job to carefully remove the sex appeal of Amanda, as if the success of this particular vlog is a pure entrepreneur miracle. To be sure, I logged on the site, and went through a few vlogs: honestly, do we need another vlog, or show on top of millions we already have? Yes, or no, it really depends on who hosts it. If it were Andrew Baaron, or some random dude or some hand picked fat chick, I can assure you that no one will be interested. You know why? First of all, the majority of vlog audience are well educated males who are early adopters. 2ndly, Amanda is not only just perky, she is actually hot. I can assure you she is 34D if not better. The jokes, or the news, nah, , it's already outdated when it hits rocketboom. It ain't funny. The secret recipe is the combo of a D cup perky actress with a 2nd rated news editing plus a somewhat new format (vlog that is) that makes it a success. It is still, a success. And Amanda will be a million dollar babe. As to you and me, forget about vlog, do something you are good at.

Return of can-do american

"Tim Draper: More money for technology companies brings out more entrepreneurs. But I think it's more than that. I believe it is the return of the can-do American. The entrepreneurial spirit is catching!"

Tim Draper is the founder of DFJ on Sandhill road.

You will take a chance in the near future, and win.

Yahoo posted an artile today http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/r-article-a-2314-m-1-sc-12-are_you_cut_out_to_be_an_entrepreneur-i

It feels like it's talking about me. The next cover figure on business 2.0: me, in a year.

And funny as it is, I have not got a Chinese take out for a long time but the fortune cookie I'm getting today says: You will take a chance in the near future, and win.

Do you have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur? You do if you fit the following description:

Entrepreneurs are optimistic and future oriented; they believe that success is possible and are willing to risk their resources in the pursuit of profit. They are fast moving and flexible, willing to change quickly when they get new information. Entrepreneurs are persistent and determined to succeed, because their own money and ego are at risk.

Entrepreneurs are skilled at selling against their competitors by creating perceptions of difference and uniqueness in their products and services. They continually seek ways to offer their products and services in such a way that they're more attractive than anything else available.

Entrepreneurs are capable of dealing effectively with the legal and governmental requirements of business. They're creative and determined in satisfying regulations and acquiring the licenses necessary to do business. They are excellent problem solvers and are continually seeking solutions to the obstacles that inevitably arise.

Entrepreneurs are capable of setting up the internal business systems, processes, procedures and bookkeeping necessary for operating a successful business. They have a natural instinct for the financial condition of their businesses. And they're intensely focused on sales, cash flow and revenue at all times.

Because entrepreneurs create all wealth, all jobs, all opportunities and all prosperity in the nation, they are the most important people in a market economy--and there are never enough of them. Are you ready to join their forces? Then get to work on these action exercises that will help you launch your business:

1. What opportunities exist today for you to create or bring new products or services to the market that people want, need and are willing to pay for? What are your three best opportunities?
2. Where are the best opportunities for you to profit by bringing together people, money and other factors to create products and services that people want?
3. Use your creativity, rather than your money, to find new, better, cheaper ways to sell your products or services or to reduce your costs of operation.
4. Tell yourself continually that "failure is not an option." Be willing to move out of your comfort zone, to take risks if necessary to start and build your business.

With so much thoughts in my mind

for my startup, so much more design to do everyday, I can not go to bed at regular time anymore. Now I work full time for myself and can go to bed, get up anytime I want. But mostly, too much to be done. I hope to get a decent upgraded product done before month end so next month we will start rolling out marketing plan.

Angel investor meeting

Today it's the first time an Angel investor and I had a meeting regarding 2above.com; He usually invested from 30k to 200k as seed money for early stage startup to get off ground. We had about an hour and a half conversation. It was constructive but I think the investment opportunity is below 50% from his side. That does not mean this idea is not viable. It just means it may not be as big as a VC wants it to be.
