New version of you
Piano...Can you become
Can you become
A new version of you
New wall paper
New shoe leather
A new way home
don't remember
New version of you
I need a new version of me
New version of you
I need a new version of me
Beered with Nan
"You always looked thinking over whole lot of things. Ed said you are not like regular Chinese, you are much different, you are fun loving..."It's sad that Chinese boy/man are thought far from being fun loving. But that is beyond point.
Nan said that to me over the beer in downtown Palo Alto, while listening to cheap standing up comedy.
Nan said she is good on bar thing and knows all kinds of drinks. Maybe she can help out opening up a bar in south bar, a really cool bar which is much needed in south bay, a place like Palo Alto. I have an urge to tell her something about Felicity, a girl from Palo Alto to chase her dream in big noisy, fancy NYC.
Intense work
Sometime, intense work could provide an excellent sense of satisfaction. It's like, whew!! Isn't it time to do something else?Sunday, April 24, 2005
Internet knowledge trading
LinkedIn has become a phenomenon in only two years. While I am addicted to reading stories of how people succeed, much as their resumes tell the world, I feel they all need more meat. Resumes, reported stories in general put up stories together from someone else's perspective which could be entirely ture, but they seem to lack the emotion. How to get busy people like them to tell their stories? Magazines, TVs, Interviews: these are the media who make them talk. But again, it will come out of other's mouth or pen, or simple Q&A that need context and emotion. Then there comes the autobiography. Obviously not many successful people have the time and energy or talent to write. Then what?
If you want to know someone, get into their life to see how they live their everyday moments. It's those moments linked together for a glorious endings.
How these are related to knowledge sharing and trading?
Much!
I ever worked for a startup company in 2000 summer as a product marketing intern. That company hoped to create a killer b2b marketplace so that corporate buyers could buy exactly the right stuff at right price, by consulting with industry leading experts before making purchasing decision. After seeing "expert recruiting" process took forever and not seeing the incentives for them, I quickly lost belief in that business model: they went belly up of course.
If we want people talk, make them talk to their interest and life, not stuff that we want.
Bill Gates maybe the busiest person in the world? Besides being geekywhat else does he think? He must have other interests. I am sure he is interested in bringing up his daughter in a best environments possible. I am sure he wants to stay healthy. And I am sure he wants every family in the world uses microsoft. So these are things he might be interested in talking. Let's get in his mind...Of course people like him or Tom Cruise maybe an extreme for knowledge trading to be ever working. But you got the idea...
Everyone has a life or need a life. Listen to their voice for life, make them talk about life they will forget their celebrityhood or experthood: that's when they start to talk. That's when information starts to flow at the right time with right trading partner.
Stay tuned for more on life knolwedge trading...
Beer can chicken
It came across twice on TV in a week, reminded me the days spent in Wisconsin barbecuing everyday. That was a year ago.Wednesday, April 20, 2005
Our online knowledge/document sharing start up
finally found a terrific web designer. Shanyin is more than just a web designer. That is my feeling, often my first impression of a person is very accurate. The world is flat
By Thomas Friedman. It's interesting to see how Americans read and view the msg sent by China. "Made in China" is having the changing meaning every day. It's even more interesting to feel like being both Chinese and American. I wonder a book called "America in the eyes of a Chinese" would raise some eyebrows...Wednesday, April 13, 2005
Felicity finale
Felicity final episode calls a good ending worthy of thinking. This hit show has been capturing my heart for more than 6 years now and I am glad to see it ends this way. Maybe someday I will get all episodes aired since 1998/9.Monday, April 11, 2005
Lovely new hard drive
A laptop of 4 years old with a new hard drive beats a brand new one. My Sony Vaio now does not have any noise, if any, more sounding like a breath of baby in sleep. I love it.Cat club of Porno
By the time we reached the cat club Saturday night, it was already half passed midnight. The bouncer looked ridiculous and so did everyone else. My friend and I were the only two people dress "properly". What went wrong? It turned out it was a porno hard rock night. While porno was being played on the big screen, a three middle aged rockers rocked on the stage, we had a lot of fun. Until the last moment I was in a shock while two girls dressed in leather were having sex in the back room..whew...Friday, April 08, 2005
Auction
I am pretty good on bringing sellers to the same table at the same time. I need to be better on bringing buyers to the same table at the same time.Business rules of thumb
Everyone likes to read cool content, no one will pay for it: salon.com, sadly, will never make it.Everyone likes to have money, everyone would like to spend less than needed: the art of helping people make and save.
If you treat your customer as an adult, they will act like an adult.
Content helping people benifit themslevse materially sell, even it is a brain wash.
A thing or two about music
http://www.napster.com/why_napster.htmlhave to check out the genre, it is really funny!!
A quote from Marc Cenedella
This is from July 2003 blog of his: It was that time when he started his ladder series online newsletter that created much buzz and he thereby became the first entreprenuerer I admire the most."If you treat your customers as adults, they will behave like adults"

I am feeling something
A platform is on the rise, we are trying to figure out something meaningful, and more importantly, beneficial to people at the two ends of the equation, while I am dying my brain moleculers to figure out something, at least I know what I am trying to figure out. I am feeling it and it's a good one.Wednesday, April 06, 2005
Upladder and Cenedella
My car was in the shop on Monday so that became an excuse for me to take the light rail. Leland and I talked on the phone and he mentioned upladder.com is pretty good on its quality of jobs available.Maybe marc cenedella might be the type of entreprenuer I hope to become.
