Feeling homeless
Actually, not at all. As usual after playing soccer for a bit after work, I was soaked and forgot to bring some to change, therefore I had to drive topless which is not appropriate for picking up some sandwiches from sit in resturant. There is this little to-go burger shop just like those in the 50's moives, simple, cheap, at any given time I drove by, there are always decent looking people, people from all walks of life standing around chatting, waiting for their burgers, fries, shakes, cokes...sounds 50, doesn't it? I parked my car across the street and walked topless with a white dry towel to cover up in case people think it inappropriate. Today's audience is a upper class family with 4 or 5 childrens ranging from 5, 6 years old to 12, 13 yrs old, it was a 5 minutes wait while I noticed their mom pulled up tons of $20 bill which reminded me how much I have in my wallet. People living in this area are generally rich. So I wnet over asking the little Asian man who is obviously the owner of the shop. "do you take card?" "cash only" little man replied. I turned around and was ready to get my favorite duck releatte sandwich from across street's resturant, of course, with my card. As I walked away from the little shop, one of the blonde boy who is about 9 yrs old, skinny, shy, was trying to catch up to me and said "hey", I turned around, wasn't sure what he was about to say, the first reaction is he might have some cash for the changes, but I don't really know how that will work out. He used his right hand's index finger jesguring me to come to him. "Can I buy you the burger?" he was very shy and said almost without being heard. Do I look like a homeless (I was topless, in red soccer shot, and nike saddle, a typical Stanfor student wears after sweating)? I was asking myself. A woman came up to me:"he really wanted to buy you the burger", "oh, Thanks very much, but I was running out of cash. I will get one from across street, there is no need" "but he really wanted to buy you the food, please let him buy it for you" his mom insisted. For one second, I almost gave up to have them buy me stuff. But I did not. "That's very kind of you" I said to that boy, who is very well raised obviously. All kids are typical white kids in sports wear, they look like in some sort of baseball team or horse jockies. Most of the time, I am kinda a lone man who always do my things on my own. I tried to avoid unnecessary contact with strangers. This was one of that occassions. They are indeed very kind.
